Joy of Celebrating Manto

Saadat Hasan Manto was remembered on Saturday on his death anniversary. Urdu Afsana survives between Manto and Prem Chand with Manto being the new simile of short story, this was said by novelist and writer Intezar Hussain at a seminar “Joy of Celebrating Manto” organized by SAWAN (South Asian Writers and Artists Network), at the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan. Intezar Hussain also said that Manto was a revolutionary writer who is considered to be one of the the best short story writers post-partition. Speakers while paying tribute to Manto said that the political situation of those times had a deep impact on his personality and writings. Stories like Toba Tek Singh are for all times making Manto one of the greatest visionaries of this century.
